Use common sense and personal awareness
of your skills. If you're skiing on an unfamiliar mountain, carry a mountain map!
Mountain Info
Make note
of easy-ways-out and the locations of emergency telephones relative to the runs you
choose. If you have any doubt about your competence to ski a run safely, do not attempt
it!
Stay in control and be able to stop so
you can avoid others or objects. This means, never ski beyond your ability to stop!
People ahead of you have the right of
way. It is your responsibility to avoid them. Give notice by politely saying "on your
left" or "on your right" when you want to pass.
When starting downhill or merging onto a
trail, look up the mountain and yield to others. When ever possible avoid stopping on
narrow trails or where you are not visible.
